Ooni of Ife Honors Chief Muraina Alexandra and Wife with Top Yoruba Titles

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has honored Chief Muraina Olashile Alexandra, a prominent business leader, and his wife, Esther, with the chieftaincy titles of Agbakin Bashorun of Yorubaland and Yeye Agbakin Bashorun, respectively.

The installation ceremony, which took place at the Oranmiyan Temple, drew a distinguished crowd from both the public and private sectors.

In a statement to the press, Chief Alexandra expressed his gratitude for the honor, noting that while the recognition was expected, it was still deeply gratifying. He emphasized the significance of Yoruba customs and traditions and pledged to uphold the values associated with his new title.

“I am honored by the warm reception here in Ile-Ife and grateful for the chieftaincy title bestowed upon me by His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi. This recognition reflects the Yoruba people’s commitment to their customs,” Alexandra stated.

He assured the Ooni that he would honor the responsibilities of his new title with dedication and vowed to work diligently to support and protect Yoruba land. He also thanked all who attended the ceremony despite their busy schedules.

The week-long celebration began with traditional rites and seclusion at Oranmiyan Groove in Mopa, where Chief Alexandra was briefed on the duties and expectations associated with his new role.
