Five People, Including a Woman, Arrested for Selling Stolen Tricycles in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended five individuals, including a woman, in connection with the sale of stolen tricycles. According to a press briefing by SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil on Monday, September 9, 2024, the arrested woman, identified as Maryam Ibrahim, also known as Ummi, was involved in receiving and selling seven stolen tricycles originally stolen from Kano State.

SP Wakil announced that the successful operation was a result of diligent work by the State Intelligence Department. He detailed that Maryam Ibrahim, along with her accomplices, had been selling these stolen tricycles in Bauchi.

 

The suspects include Maryam Ibrahim, 30, of Gombe Road, Bauchi; Adamu Sale, 30; Umar Ibrahim, 31, of Gombe Road, Bauchi; Nasiru Usman, 29; and Nasiru Musa Umar, 27, of Ibrahim Bako Estate, Bauchi.

 

Recovered from the suspects were seven tricycles, commonly known as Keke Napep. The police reiterated that receiving stolen property is a grave offense, punishable by up to fourteen years in prison under Section 427 of the Criminal Code Act.

 

The suspects are currently in custody and will face charges in court as investigations continue. The police also expressed gratitude to the community for their assistance in this operation.
