Herdsmen Attack Claims Lives of Two Farmers, Injures Five in Benue

On Tuesday, suspected herdsmen launched an ambush on farmers traveling along the Waya-Kashimbila road in Baji village, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuring five others. The attack occurred around 7 p.m. as the farmers were returning from their fields when the assailants opened fire.
The incident has caused widespread panic, leading many residents to flee their homes. Lawrence Akerigba, a witness, identified the deceased as Terhide Asom and Ashongo, while Tyover Tsavwua and Lubem Shor were among the injured. The attack has been reported to the police, but Akerigba criticized the current security forces for their ineffectiveness and urged both state and federal governments to replace them with more effective personnel.
