APC Oriade LG Meeting Summary: Strengthening Unity and Strategy Ahead of Local Government Election

The recent meeting, held at Afinbiokin Hall, Ipetu Ijesa, to strategize for the upcoming Local Government election, was attended by party leaders, candidates, ward chairmen, youth and women leaders across the local government area.

APC Vice Chairman and Chairman Aspirants 

The meeting, led by Hon. Ajewole Golo, began promptly at 12:11 p.m. Hon. Golo initiated the session with a prayer by an Alfa and then greeted everyone present, including local government executives, selected ward executives, and party candidates. He introduced the party’s Chairmanship candidate, Hon. Deji Ajimati, and his Vice Chairmanship candidate, Hon. Olodo Oduoye, praising their efforts to advance the party in Oriade Local Government. Hon. Golo also acknowledged the support of His Excellency Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola, Minister for Marine and Blue Economy, for endorsing the party’s primary election results. He outlined the procedures for the primary election, which were accepted by the party members.

Omo-Akin addressed the meeting next, emphasizing the need for unity among party leaders and reflecting on the recent electoral loss to the Peoples Democratic Party. He expressed optimism about the upcoming election’s potential to enhance the party’s prospects for the forthcoming election and urged all dissatisfied aspirants, especially Hon. Bunmi Obeisun, to reconcile with the party to ensure victory in the 2025 election.

Baba Ijesa also spoke on the importance of maintaining peace to secure the party’s success in the forthcoming Local Government election. He highlighted Hon. Deji Ajimati as the ideal candidate for Local Government Chairman and requested the introduction of all Councillorship candidates for better recognition.

Mr. Wale encouraged all members to support the party’s candidates and stressed the value of unity, citing the saying “In unity we stand.” He emphasized sincerity towards both the party and its candidates.

A representative from Ikeji spoke about the need to properly address youth concerns to ensure electoral success.

Sunday Supply praised Hon. Obeisun for his honesty and commitment to the party for not hiding his feelii. He also discussed the marginalization of youth in previous APC administrations.

Hon. Ajewole Golo reiterated the need to resolve conflicts among party leaders and aspirants for the party’s benefit. He thanked everyone who contributed to the discussion.

Ward 01, Erin Oke Youth Leader raised a concern about the late notification for the meeting, explaining that he received it while working on his farm. Hon. Golo apologized for the delay and promised to improve communication in the future. The Youth Leader urged leaders to reconcile with Hon. Bunmi Obeisun for the party’s progress and called for unity in the Ipetu Ijesa zone to secure victory in the upcoming election.

Ward 02 Women Leader discussed the party’s progress in local government elections and advocated for peace among aggrieved members.

Hon. Yinka Osunmakinde assured that both Ajimati and Obeisun are on good terms and reminded members of APC’s progressive values. He encouraged supporters to remain calm and united.

Hon. Ajewole Golo concluded the meeting by introducing all Councillor candidates and reintroducing the Chairmanship candidate, Hon. Deji Ajimati, and his Vice, Hon. Olodo Oduoye. He urged all party candidates to work together for the party’s success.
