See How Five Kidnap Suspects Were Arrested in Delta, Cash and Weapons Recovered
In Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, five individuals suspected of kidnapping and extorting N7.9 million have been apprehended. The arrests occurred on Thursday in Ewu town, following a tip-off, according to SP Bright Edafe, spokesperson for the Delta Police Command.
The suspects were detained by the Ughelli Area Command’s specialized crack team. During questioning, they admitted to abducting and subsequently releasing a 70-year-old woman after receiving the ransom.
“On September 12, 2024, acting on a credible tip, our team raided a known criminal hideout in Ewu town and arrested the five suspects. They confessed to multiple robbery and kidnapping incidents, including the abduction of a septuagenarian on September 8, for which they received N7.9 million,” Edafe reported.
Recovered from the suspects were a single barrel gun, three locally made cut-to-size firearms, and N450,000 in cash. Additional items seized include a Moniepoint POS machine, an OPAY POS machine, and several wraps of suspected cannabis.
The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
