Why Sultan of Sokoto Urges Nigerians to Pray for Leaders Instead of Cursing Them

Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, has called on Nigerians to pray for their leaders, regardless of the challenges they face.
Speaking at an event at the University of Ilorin, the Sultan highlighted the importance of offering support through prayers rather than resorting to cursing or condemnation. He believes that such prayers could inspire positive transformations in leadership.
He stated, “Even if a leader is not performing well, pray for them. Almighty Allah has the power to change hearts and improve their actions.”
The Sultan encouraged citizens to maintain a supportive mindset towards their leaders for the benefit of the nation.
The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), and the Secretary-General of KU8+, Professor Francisca Oladipo.
Fagbemi, who chaired the gathering, echoed the Sultan’s message, urging Nigerians to prioritize encouragement over constant criticism of their leaders.
