Denis: The Bishop Who Preached After His Execution
Bishop Denis, known for his remarkable dedication to spreading the message of Jesus, faced intense opposition during his time in the early 200s AD. His efforts to convert people alarmed pagan priests who were losing followers to his teachings.
Despite severe persecution against Christians, Denis fearlessly took to the streets to proclaim the gospel. Eventually, he and two companions were arrested by the Roman governor. After enduring a long imprisonment, they were beheaded on a hill in Paris, now known as Montmartre.
In a remarkable twist, after his execution, Denis reportedly stood up, held his severed head, and continued to preach the gospel, walking for another six miles before finally collapsing.
