Police Arrest
The Nasarawa State Police Command has apprehended two male suspects in connection with the kidnapping and murder of Felicia Namkywa, a petty trader from the Obi Local Government Area.
According to the police spokesperson, the suspects hail from the Shember community in Agwatashi village within Obi. Their arrest followed an investigation initiated by detectives at the Obi Division after a complaint was filed regarding Namkywa’s disappearance.
The police received reports that she had been missing for several days, prompting an urgent search effort. Preliminary inquiries revealed that one of the suspects had lured the victim under the pretense of purchasing grains, owed to him for a debt of ₦40,000.
Upon meeting, the suspects allegedly kidnapped her and later killed her in a remote area. They confessed to strangling Namkywa before disposing of her body in a swamp, and also admitted to stealing ₦555,000 from her.
The police have since recovered the remains of the victim, guided by the suspects to the location where they were hidden. Commissioner of Police Umar Nadada has instructed the Deputy Commissioner overseeing criminal investigations to expedite the inquiry and ensure the suspects face charges in court.
The police spokesperson extended condolences to Namkywa’s family and assured them that justice will be pursued vigorously.
