Man on the Run After Stabbing of Cousin to Death in Lagos

A family dispute turned deadly in Lagos on Monday when a confrontation between two relatives escalated into violence, resulting in one cousin fatally stabbing the other.
The Lagos State Police Command verified the incident in a brief statement from Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin, who reported that the suspect remains at large.
According to police reports, a woman alerted authorities that her son, Ganiyu Ibrahim, and her nephew, Afeez Akeem, were involved in a disagreement that turned physical. The clash occurred around 7 a.m., with Ganiyu allegedly breaking a bottle and stabbing Afeez in the chest during the heated exchange.
Emergency services rushed Afeez to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical staff. A team of detectives was dispatched to the scene to gather evidence.
Hundeyin also mentioned that the family opted against an autopsy and chose to proceed with Akeem’s burial in accordance with Islamic traditions. He confirmed that the suspect is currently evading capture and that an investigation is ongoing to locate him.
This incident follows another case earlier in October, where 25-year-old Chibunma Chimelie was apprehended for allegedly killing his 68-year-old father in Isolo, Lagos. Hundeyin confirmed that this incident was reported to the Aswani Police Division.
