See the Number of People Dead in Petrol Tanker Explosion in Jigawa

A tragic petrol tanker explosion in Majiya Town, located in the Taura local government area of Jigawa State, has resulted in the deaths of over 90 individuals, according to reports gathered by News360 Nigeria.

Mr. Shi’isu Adam, the police spokesperson in Jigawa, confirmed the fatalities during an interview with NAN on Wednesday. He also noted that around 50 others sustained injuries of varying severity from the blast.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 PM on Tuesday when the tanker driver lost control near Khadija University, leading to the explosion. The driver was en route from Kano to Nguru in Yobe when the accident took place.

Adam expressed concern over the tendency of onlookers to congregate at accident scenes despite police warnings to maintain a safe distance, which contributed to the high casualty count.

A mass burial for the victims is scheduled for 9 AM on Wednesday, and the injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at Ringim General Hospital.
