Niger Delta Militant Group Issues Dire Warning: Threatens to Target Oil Installations Over Wike’s Actions

The Niger Delta Development Force, a militant group in the Niger Delta, has issued a warning to shut down oil facilities in the region.
The group declared that it would target these installations unless President Bola Tinubu intervenes to address the actions of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. They accuse Wike of attempting to undermine Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration in Rivers State.
In a statement released on Sunday by their spokesperson, Justin Alabraba, the group expressed outrage over Wike’s alleged plan to leverage a sympathetic judge to secure a ruling that would halt local government funding in the state.
The statement warned, “Our members will not hesitate to shut down oil operations if any ruling from Abuja financially cripples local governments in Rivers State, hindering their ability to serve the public.”
They further asserted, “We will respond swiftly, targeting major oil installations throughout the Niger Delta. If President Tinubu permits Wike to disrupt local governance in Rivers State, we will retaliate by disrupting governance at all levels. We cannot continue to suffer while other regions thrive. Wike must cease his interference with Fubara’s administration.”
