UNN Dean Prof. Oguejiofo Ujam Kidnapped by Gunmen
Prof. Oguejiofo Ujam, the Dean of the School of General Studies at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has reportedly been abducted by suspected kidnappers. The incident occurred on Sunday morning along the Ugwuogo-Nike-Opi-Nsukka Road, where Ujam, who is also a lecturer in the Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry, was taken.
As of now, there have been no ransom demands from the kidnappers regarding his release. This incident follows another kidnapping in the area, where Emeason Chima, an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), was abducted the day prior. Chima was reportedly driving alone near Maduka University when he was taken, and his captors have since demanded a ransom of N50 million.
Additionally, unverified reports suggest that passengers on a commercial bus were also kidnapped along the same route last Friday.
Attempts to contact the Enugu State Police Command for further information were unsuccessful, as their spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, could not be reached.
The rise in abductions along this route has raised alarm among residents and travelers, prompting calls for immediate security measures to safeguard commuters and restore safety in the area.
