Two Suspected Phone Thieves Arrested in Minna

Two men suspected of robbing a victim of his mobile phone in Minna have been apprehended by the Niger State Police. The suspects are currently in police custody awaiting further investigation.
The pair, identified as 25-year-old Azifi Lawal, also known as Maka, and Abubakar Saidu, known as Yaro, were arrested on October 31, 2024, by officers from the Kpakungu Police Division following a complaint from the victim.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the suspects were detained based on credible intelligence after the victim reported the robbery.
The incident occurred when the victim, traveling from Gidan-Kwano to Dama, boarded a tricycle. During the ride, two passengers on board conspired, attacked him, and stole his mobile phone before fleeing into a nearby bush.
During interrogation, the suspects admitted to the robbery and revealed their involvement in other similar crimes. They also implicated a third accomplice, identified as Mubarak, from the Dutsen-Kura area. The police are continuing their investigation to recover the stolen phones and capture the remaining suspect.
