See How Nigerian Air Force Strikes Terrorists During Restoration of Shiroro-Kaduna Transmission Line

Several terrorists in the Shiroro-Kaduna transmission line area have been neutralized by Nigerian Air Force (NAF) personnel who were deployed to secure the site while electricity workers carried out repairs.

The operation took place on Friday, when the Air Force fighter jets launched airstrikes on the terrorists, who were reportedly planning to sabotage the critical infrastructure and potentially harm the workers involved in the restoration effort.

This attack came after a series of setbacks, including the destruction of key electricity towers, which left 17 northern states without power for over a week. These towers, part of a major transmission line, were targeted by the terrorists, disrupting power supplies to the region.

In response, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed the National Security Adviser, the Minister of Defence, and military leaders to ensure the safety of repair crews working on the damaged infrastructure. The Nigerian military was tasked with providing air cover and security for the restoration efforts.

On Monday, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, spokesperson for the Nigerian Air Force, confirmed that intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions had identified the presence of terrorist groups in the area. The terrorists had been gathering to prevent the repairs from proceeding. However, following an engagement, several of the terrorists were killed in the airstrike, allowing the restoration work to continue.
