Driver Arrested for Stealing Boss’s Car to Fund Football Dream

A 27-year-old driver, Aliyu Mohammed, from Bida in Niger State, has been arrested in Minna for allegedly stealing his employer’s Toyota Highlander (LSR 102 GU) after driving it from Lekki, Lagos.

The Niger State Police Command confirmed the arrest, with Public Relations Officer SP Wasiu Abiodun stating that Mohammed was apprehended following a tip-off.

During questioning, Mohammed admitted to taking the vehicle after dropping his employer at the airport. To cover up his actions, he falsely told his boss that he had been robbed on the Third Mainland Bridge.

Mohammed revealed that he planned to sell the car in Kaduna to fund his ambition of joining a football academy in Abuja, despite earning a monthly salary of N70,000.

He explained that, although he had worked for the employer for over three years, he was dissatisfied with his earnings and hoped the stolen vehicle would help him achieve his football dreams.

The suspect is currently under investigation at the TST unit of the police command.
