Reno Omokri Faces Backlash for Calling Pastor Becky Enenche a “Yahoo Girl”

Reno Omokri, a Nigerian social media personality and activist, is facing backlash for his recent comments directed at Pastor Becky Enenche, the wife of the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre. Omokri referred to her as a “Yahoo girl on the altar,” a remark that has sparked significant outrage among Christian communities.
This comment was made in response to Pastor Becky’s emphasis on the importance of tithing, which Omokri seemingly took issue with. His words quickly drew strong condemnation from the Nigeria Youths Frontiers and Peace Advocates (NYFPA), a group dedicated to promoting national unity and peace.
In a statement, the NYFPA condemned Omokri’s remarks as “irresponsible, inflammatory, and baseless,” and criticized the activist for making such statements despite his position as a public figure and political commentator. The group, through its National Publicity Secretary Samuel Geofrey, expressed disappointment that Omokri’s actions were a direct affront to millions of Nigerians who respect their faith and spiritual leaders.
“Reno Omokri’s words not only disrespect Pastor Becky Enenche, but they also disrespect the faith of countless Nigerians and the principle of respectful dialogue in a civilized society,” the statement read.
The NYFPA also took issue with Omokri’s history of controversial public statements, accusing him of using divisive rhetoric to stay in the public eye, often undermining efforts to foster national unity and constructive discussion. They urged Nigerians to reject such divisive narratives and instead focus on building a society based on mutual respect, truth, and understanding.
“Omokri’s attacks on Pastor Becky Enenche reflect a deeper disregard for both Christianity and the social values of dialogue and mutual respect. His history of inconsistency and self-serving behavior only adds to the controversy,” the statement concluded.
