Breaking: Pro-Biafra Activist Simon Ekpa Arrested in Finland on Terrorism Charges
Simon Ekpa, a prominent pro-Biafra agitator and leader of the Autopilot faction of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been arrested by Finland’s Central Criminal Police.
Ekpa, who has been at the forefront of pro-Biafra activism, was detained on Thursday alongside four others in connection with suspected terrorist activities. Finnish authorities have linked Ekpa to violence and criminal acts in southeastern Nigeria, claiming that his actions have contributed to the harm of civilians.
According to the Finnish police, Ekpa’s activities, which are believed to have been carried out from Finland, allegedly incited violence against both civilians and government authorities in the region. A key part of the investigation revolves around his use of social media platforms to promote these efforts.
Otto Hiltunen, Crime Commissioner of the Central Criminal Police, stated that the investigation was ongoing, and the district court of Päijät-Häme would address the matter further. The charges against Ekpa could lead to significant legal proceedings in the coming days.
More details are expected to be revealed shortly.
