FUNAAB Security Staff Found Dead in His Apartment

A staff member of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Oriyomi Fatai, was discovered dead in his apartment on Anigilaje Street, Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Sunday morning, FIRST CLASS GISTS has reported.

According to sources, Fatai’s body was found around 10 a.m. with indications suggesting he may have fallen. Neighbors reported an unusual smell coming from the apartment, which led them to contact the local police station.

When the police arrived and forced entry into the apartment, they found Fatai’s lifeless, swollen body lying on the floor. The police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, stated that an initial assessment of the scene indicated that Fatai may have fallen from a couch, possibly due to intoxication. Empty bottles of alcohol, including dry gin, were found on a nearby table.

Odutola confirmed that no signs of foul play were detected. She added, “The position in which the body was found suggests a fall from the couch, and the alcohol residue found at the scene supports this theory. The family of the deceased has been notified, and they have requested the body for burial.”

Fatai was confirmed to be a member of the security team at FUNAAB.

This tragic incident follows another similar case in Abeokuta. On Saturday, a 26-year-old woman, Toyin Balogun, was found unconscious in her apartment in the Gbokoniyi area. A neighbor reportedly broke into her apartment after she failed to respond to calls. Balogun was found with foam in her mouth and rushed to the hospital, but was later declared dead. The cause of her death has not yet been confirmed.
