Nigerian Army Captures Two Terrorist Logistics Suppliers and 256 Others in a Single Week

The Nigerian Army has made significant strides in its operations, capturing two logistics suppliers for terrorists and 256 other individuals in just one week. This was disclosed by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, in a statement issued on Saturday from Abuja.

 

According to General Buba, the troops successfully freed 291 hostages, apprehended 51 individuals suspected of oil theft, and seized crude oil worth N798.1 million. Among those arrested were two suspected ammunition suppliers, identified as Danweri and Abubakar Hamza, who were taken into custody in the Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

 

In addition to the arrests, the military recovered 146 various firearms and 2,599 rounds of ammunition. The weapons included two PKT machine guns, 72 AK-47 rifles, 33 homemade rifles, 28 Dane guns, and more. The ammunition haul comprised 1,596 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 636 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 111 rounds of 7.62 x 51mm, 114 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm, 25 rounds of 9mm, and 98 live cartridges.

 

The recovery also included critical communication and transport equipment such as three Baofeng radios, three vehicles, 36 motorcycles, 40 mobile phones, and N1.8 million in cash.

 

In the Niger Delta region, the troops uncovered and destroyed 66 illegal oil refineries, 68 crude oil cooking ovens, 13 pits, 41 boats, and 45 storage tanks. Additional recovered items included four speedboats, a pumping machine, 150 drums, a generator, two motorcycles, two mobile phones, one drone, and five vehicles.

 

Furthermore, the operation led to the seizure of 657,470 litres of stolen crude oil, 127,870 litres of illegally refined AGO (automotive gas oil), and 5,000 litres of DPK (dual-purpose kerosene), according to General Buba.
