Thailand Begins E-Visa  for Nigerians and Other African Nationals

Starting January 1, 2025, Nigerians traveling to Thailand can now apply for their visas electronically, as the Royal Thai Embassy in Abuja announced the end of in-person visa submissions. This new e-visa system is also extended to citizens of Ghana, Cameroon, Benin Republic, Central African Republic, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Chad.

The embassy stated that applicants must be residing within one of these countries at the time of application. Any applicant unable to provide proof of residence in the listed countries may have their visa application canceled.

As part of the new process, the embassy has emphasized that a travel booking confirmation is required, including return flight details with the applicant’s name, and the itinerary showing flights from the applicant’s country to Thailand.

The embassy also noted that visa processing typically takes up to 5 business days, although delays may occur in certain situations.

Travelers are encouraged to apply for their e-visa 4 to 6 weeks before their planned departure, but not more than 3 months in advance. Applications must be completed through the official Thai e-visa portal at www.thaievisa.go.th.
