Truck Crashes Into House, Killing Nine Family Members in Benue

A devastating accident occurred in Okete, a peaceful village in the Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State, on Thursday when a truck crashed into a family’s home, resulting in the death of nine relatives.

Reports indicate the collision took place at approximately 5 am, while the family was still asleep.

It was later determined that the truck’s brakes failed, causing the driver to lose control and slam into the house located near the roadside.

An eyewitness recalled, “The crash happened early in the morning, when most people were still resting. The loud bang from the impact woke up those nearby.”

The Benue State Police Command confirmed the tragic incident.

Police spokesperson Catherine Anene stated, “A truck collided with a residential building, killing nine members of a family. This unfortunate event occurred in the early hours of Thursday.”

She also mentioned that the police had launched a thorough investigation into the incident and promised to provide additional information as the investigation progresses.
