Edo Police Arrest 16 Kidnappers; Senator Okpebholo Orders Demolition of Criminal Hideouts
The Edo State Police Command has apprehended 16 suspected kidnappers in the Edo Central senatorial district. In response to the arrests, Senator Monday Okpebholo has directed the immediate demolition of any properties connected to the suspects.
According to a source within the State CID, Okpebholo’s order instructs security forces to raid known hideouts of kidnappers and other criminal groups, with any structures found to be harboring them set for demolition. Legal proceedings against the arrested suspects are expected to begin shortly.
Okpebholo praised the efforts of law enforcement and emphasized that the destruction of these criminal hideouts would send a strong message to other criminals operating in the state. He underscored his administration’s commitment to eradicating the activities of cultists and other criminal elements.
In addition, Senator Okpebholo revealed that five Hilux vans had been deployed to enhance patrols in the Edo North senatorial district, further bolstering efforts to combat crime. He also announced the acquisition of 75 more Hilux vans to strengthen the overall security infrastructure across the state.
The senator made it clear that the demolished buildings had been confirmed as hubs for criminal activities, and their destruction was a necessary step toward restoring peace and security to the region.
