IPAC Demands Atiku Apologize or Name Opposition Leaders Allegedly Collecting ₦50 Million Bribes

IPAC Demands Atiku Apologize or Name Opposition Leaders Allegedly Collecting ₦50 Million Bribes

The National Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Yusuf Dantalle, has called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to either identify the opposition leaders allegedly receiving ₦50 million from the Bola Tinubu administration or issue a public apology.

Dantalle’s demand comes after Atiku accused the Tinubu-led government of paying certain opposition members ₦50 million to destabilize opposition parties. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Dantalle criticized Atiku for making the claims without providing evidence, which, he argued, could lead to unnecessary tensions within the political landscape.

“You need to be cautious with your words to avoid unnecessarily stirring up trouble,” Dantalle said. “Atiku Abubakar may have his sources, but it’s not enough to accuse all opposition members of collecting ₦50 million.”

According to Dantalle, as a representative of IPAC, which consists of 19 registered political parties, he is not aware of any opposition leader involved in such actions. “If you’re going to make such a claim, you should name the individuals involved, so we can address it properly. Otherwise, it’s creating division and suspicion.”

Dantalle, who also heads the Secretariat of the Allied People’s Movement, stated that he had spoken with the national chairpersons of several opposition parties, including the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Youth Progressive Party (YPP), People’s Redemption Party (PRP), All Africa Alliance (AA), and Nigeria’s Rebirth Movement (NRM). All of them denied involvement, with many expressing frustration over the accusation.

“It’s becoming embarrassing. I’m not involved in any of these dealings. For the sake of transparency and fairness, Atiku should either apologize to the opposition or name the individuals who are allegedly involved in this matter,” Dantalle said.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) also demanded that Atiku provide evidence to support his claims.
