APC Urges Nigerians to Prevent PDP’s Return to Power in 2027

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned Nigerians against allowing the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to regain power, citing the party’s longstanding leadership crises and the damage caused during its 16-year rule.

In a recent interview with Sunday PUNCH, APC National Publicity Director, Bala Ibrahim, emphasized that the country was still reeling from the aftermath of PDP’s governance and that the party was on the verge of extinction due to its internal turmoil.

“Nigeria is still grappling with the consequences of 16 years of PDP’s mismanagement. That party is essentially finished. Are people really considering them as viable contenders for leadership again? Believe me, this is just the beginning. We in the APC are watching their collapse with amusement,” Ibrahim stated.

He further criticized the PDP’s inability to manage both its leadership and internal affairs, claiming that the country’s transition to the APC was divinely ordained. “What’s unfolding within the PDP is further evidence that Nigerians were saved when the party was ousted from power,” he added.

Ibrahim invited the PDP to learn from the APC’s political strategies, noting the establishment of the APC Progressive Institute by the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, which aims to teach effective political practices without bitterness.

In response to claims that the APC had a role in the PDP’s internal struggles, Ibrahim rejected the allegations. “How can we be responsible for the chaos at the PDP headquarters in Wadata Plaza? We are not even in close proximity to them. The leadership issues they face, including having multiple secretaries and chairmen, are purely their own doing. No APC member is involved in their troubles.”

Meanwhile, a significant meeting took place in Bauchi, where key leaders of the PDP’s North East zonal caucus gathered to discuss the party’s future, including strategies for the 2027 elections. However, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was notably absent from the gathering. The meeting was attended by the governors of Bauchi, Taraba, and Adamawa states—Bala Mohammed, Dr. Agbu Kefas, and Ahmadu Fintiri, respectively—along with members of the PDP Reconciliation Committee and other party officials.
