APC Group Criticizes Presidential Appointees for Silence on Amaechi’s Attacks on Tinubu

The All Progressives Congress Support Vanguard (APCSV) has expressed concern over the lack of response from presidential aides regarding the recent criticism directed at President Bola Tinubu’s administration by former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
The group argues that it is inappropriate for party members, especially those holding appointed positions, to ignore the implications of the statements made by Amaechi and others.
In a statement signed by its chairman, Abdullahi Mohammed Tofa, the APCSV pointed out, “Apart from the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, who issued a strong caution to Amaechi over what he called reckless and inciting remarks about President Tinubu’s leadership, we have seen little else in terms of support for the President.”
The group went on to condemn Amaechi’s remarks, which suggested that President Tinubu would not peacefully hand over power to the younger generation and implied a do-or-die approach to elections, calling these statements a threat to the nation’s stability.
“For someone to publicly state, ‘If you think Tinubu will just give you power, you are wasting your time,’ is a clear provocation,” the statement read. “It is troubling to see so many of his aides remain silent on this matter.”
The APCSV also reminded the public of Amaechi’s previous criticisms, noting his 2024 comments questioning President Tinubu’s preparedness to address the fuel subsidy issue, and now, in 2025, his continued claims that the political elite, including Tinubu, would resist relinquishing power to younger generations.
While the group affirmed that they welcome constructive criticism, they stressed that Amaechi’s remarks were harmful to national unity and the political atmosphere. The APCSV concluded by urging appointees, party leaders, and the President’s supporters to address Amaechi’s comments promptly and set the record straight.
