PETROAN Clarifies Dangote Refinery’s Price Drop Won’t Have Immediate Impact at Fuel Stations

In the latest update, PETROAN has confirmed that its members are now receiving petroleum products from the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries.
Joseph Obele, the spokesperson for PETROAN, shared this information over the weekend, emphasizing that the move had dispelled previous concerns regarding the operational status of the refineries owned by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC).
“Members of PETROAN are now receiving various petroleum products, such as Dual-Purpose Kerosene, Automotive Gas Oil, and Premium Motor Spirit,” Obele said.
The revival of these refineries has led to increased competition, which is expected to drive down the cost of petroleum products. As Nigerians continue to call for lower prices on Premium Motor Spirit, it’s clear that competition plays a vital role in bringing down prices.
“Refinery revitalization has brought about significant benefits, including the elimination of adulterated diesel and kerosene from the market,” he added.
Obele also pointed out that the absence of functional refineries had contributed to the spread of counterfeit petroleum products, which posed serious risks to
consumers.
