Gunmen Attack Mourners in Plateau, Leaving so many people dead

Published by on March 28th, 2025.

Details of the Attack
Eyewitnesses reported that the armed men stormed the village while residents were gathered for a mourning ceremony. The attackers, heavily armed, opened fire indiscriminately, killing 10 people on the spot and injuring many others. Some homes were also set ablaze before the assailants fled into nearby hills under the cover of darkness.
Local sources described the scene as heartbreaking, with families grieving their loved ones while dealing with the destruction left behind. Survivors recounted how the gunmen struck without warning, catching many people off guard.
Community in Mourning
The village has been thrown into deep sorrow following the attack. A mass burial is being arranged for the victims as residents struggle to come to terms with the tragedy. Many are now living in fear, uncertain of what the future holds.
Local leaders have condemned the attack and called on security agencies to take urgent action. “We have suffered repeated attacks, and the government must do more to protect us,” a community leader said.
Rising Security Concerns

This latest attack highlights the growing security crisis in Plateau State, where rural communities have repeatedly been targeted by armed groups. In recent years, the region has witnessed violent clashes, often linked to communal tensions, banditry, and terrorism.
Despite efforts by security forces to curb the violence, many communities remain vulnerable to such attacks. Residents are calling for increased military presence and stronger intervention by the government to prevent further bloodshed.
Call for Government Action
The people of Kulben village are appealing to both state and federal authorities to take decisive action in ensuring the safety of their communities. Many are demanding more security deployments and a long-term strategy to end the cycle of violence.
As investigations into the attack continue, Nigerians are once again reminded of the urgent need for lasting peace and security in conflict-prone areas. Until then, communities like Kulben remain at risk, living with the fear that another tragedy could strike at any time.
