Alleged EFCC Arrest: VeryDarkMan Reportedly Taken into Custody Amid Controversy
Nigerian social media personality, VeryDarkMan, has reportedly been taken into custody by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), according to claims circulating online. Popular blogger Tunde Ednut and musician Koko Pee, who are known associates of VeryDarkMan, shared information suggesting that he was blindfolded and transported to the EFCC headquarters under unclear circumstances.
While the EFCC has yet to issue an official statement confirming the arrest or the alleged conditions surrounding it, this development comes amid an ongoing series of controversies involving VeryDarkMan and the anti-graft agency.
Earlier in February 2025, VeryDarkMan publicly accused the EFCC of plotting to arrest him, attributing the alleged scheme to his vocal criticism of the agency and its chairman, Olanipekun Olukoyede. He claimed that a prominent lawyer and a social media influencer had presented incriminating material—including videos and photographs of him spraying money at public events—to EFCC officials in Abuja, as part of efforts to implicate him.
These recent claims are not the first time the internet personality has had dealings with the EFCC. In September 2024, he was invited for questioning alongside socialite Bobrisky over a widely circulated video in which Bobrisky alleged that EFCC officers had accepted a N15 million bribe to drop money laundering charges. The agency launched an internal investigation into the bribery allegations.
In a separate incident, VeryDarkMan was arrested in March 2024 on charges related to cyberstalking. He spent three weeks in detention over accusations of posting offensive content targeting Nigerian celebrities and government officials. He was later granted bail in June 2024.
Tunde Ednut, who has consistently supported VeryDarkMan during his legal troubles, commented that his friend’s popularity might soar following his most recent detention, noting a pattern in which public figures often attract increased attention after run-ins with law enforcement.
As of now, no official confirmation has been provided by the EFCC regarding the circumstances of VeryDarkMan’s alleged arrest or his current status. More details are expected as the story develops.
