Tinubu: Tackling Insecurity is Key to Attracting Investments in Nigeria

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, FRN President
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emphasized the urgent need to address the country’s security challenges as a prerequisite for attracting meaningful investment and ensuring sustainable development.
During a dinner with Katsina State elders and stakeholders at the Government House, President Tinubu reiterated his administration’s determination to reclaim ungoverned territories, particularly forested regions in the North West, which have become strongholds for bandits and terrorists.
Acknowledging the scale of the security crisis, the President said, “We all know security is a pressing issue in Nigeria. Earlier today, I spoke with our armed forces and assured them of our full backing to defeat terrorism and banditry. We will deploy cutting-edge technology and enhance surveillance to reclaim our forests and restore order.”
He added that for Nigeria to attract both local and foreign investments, it must first ensure a secure environment. “Investors will shy away from regions plagued by violence and lawlessness. Security is not just a local concern—it’s a national priority. We will work closely with state and local governments to resolve it.”
President Tinubu also highlighted signs of economic recovery, attributing improvements to the tough policy choices made by his administration. He revealed that the federal government is considering upgrading Katsina’s airport to boost economic activity and create employment opportunities in the region.
He assured that communities affected by terrorism will receive necessary assistance to help them rebuild their lives and livelihoods.
The President extended his gratitude to former Katsina Governor Aminu Bello Masari for his role in securing the region’s support during the 2023 presidential primaries and election. He also acknowledged the presence of several state governors who attended both project inaugurations and a family event hosted by the Katsina State Governor.
Tinubu commended the leadership contributions of Katsina indigenes to the nation, singling out former President Muhammadu Buhari as a leader of great integrity who made significant strides in Nigeria’s development.
Governor Dikko Radda, in his remarks, briefed the President on the state’s efforts to improve security, including the creation of a local intelligence-gathering outfit designed to support
security agencies.
