Troops Storm Bandits’ Camp in Plateau, Neutralize One and Seize Weapons
Troops of the Nigerian Army operating in Plateau State have eliminated a suspected bandit and recovered weapons during a coordinated raid in Teng Village, Qua’an Pan Local Government Area.
The military operation, which took place in the early hours of Thursday, May 23, 2025, was part of Operation Safe Haven—an initiative aimed at flushing out armed criminal elements from the region. This was disclosed in a statement by Major Samson Zhakom.
“On May 23, 2025, troops from 3 Division/Operation Safe Haven carried out an intelligence-driven raid on a known bandits’ enclave in Teng Village, Qua’an Pan LGA, Plateau State,” said Zhakom.
He confirmed that one of the bandits was neutralized during a gun battle, and traces of blood along the escape path indicated that other suspects likely sustained injuries while fleeing.
During the operation, the troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, a loaded magazine, and 11 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition. The recovered arms are now secured by the military for further investigation.
The troops have since initiated a pursuit to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent any regrouping or further attacks. Major Zhakom reiterated the army’s dedication to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring lasting peace in the area.
He emphasized that the Nigerian Army’s 3 Division will continue to maintain pressure on non-state actors and disrupt their operations with professionalism and determination.
