OSUN 2026: AMBO Movement Appoints 393 Ward-Level Youth Coordinators

…Our primary will be seamless – Owoeye

…Governor Adeleke’s threats can’t stop us – Former Oyetola Aide

As part of its strategic preparations for the 2026 Osun governorship race, the AMBO Movement has inaugurated 393 youth coordinators, representing each ward across the state. The move marks a significant step in bolstering grassroots support for Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji’s ambition to govern Osun.

The inauguration, which took place on Tuesday, was led by Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, immediate past Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly and Chairman of the AMBO Movement. He reaffirmed the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s dedication to fostering unity within the party and ensuring a smooth, dispute-free primary election.

Former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Adebayo Adeleke, also spoke at the event. He strongly criticized the current administration under Governor Ademola Adeleke, stating that no level of intimidation or misinformation would hinder the opposition’s momentum to unseat him in 2026.

Notably, this development follows recent mobilization efforts by the AMBO Movement, which included the formation of stakeholder committees, local and ward-level coordinators, and women’s mobilization groups—all aimed at extending the AMBO campaign’s reach throughout Osun State.

During the inauguration, Owoeye highlighted the crucial role of youths in politics, emphasizing their energy, passion, and influence as key drivers of societal change. He said the youth coordinators will serve as community anchors, helping to spread the AMBO message across all corners of the state.

He praised the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, APC stalwart Chief Bisi Akande, and former governor and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, for their contributions to the party’s growth and direction.

“We’re here today to officially launch the AMBO Youth Assembly, made up of 393 vibrant young leaders who will champion the Oyebamiji movement in every ward of Osun,” Owoeye declared. “The level of grassroots mobilization we’ve achieved clearly demonstrates that Asiwaju Oyebamiji is not just a familiar name but a leading figure among progressives. The structure we are building—from stakeholders to youth—underscores our readiness to win, both at the primary and general election stages. The process will be peaceful and inclusive.”

Prince Adeleke, while addressing the gathering, said the AMBO Movement has gained substantial recognition and support across Osun and beyond. He insisted that the ruling party’s attempts to stifle the opposition would not succeed.

He also denounced Governor Adeleke’s reported directive to summon media heads over alleged violations of broadcast codes, calling it an abuse of power and a sign of desperation. “We won’t be silenced,” he asserted. “The opposition is growing stronger, and no intimidation can prevent us from pursuing good governance and accountability. Many key players have already defected from the PDP to APC. That speaks volumes.”

Speaking with journalists, APC stalwart Hon. Kayode Oduoye lauded the enthusiasm of the newly appointed youth coordinators. He emphasized the vital role youths play in transformative politics and the importance of engaging them early in leadership roles.

Several notable figures including former National Assembly member Hon. Olubukola Oyewo and former Osun House of Assembly members Hon. Adebayo Taiwo Olodo, Hon. Babatunde Festus Komolafe, and former Amotekun Field Commander, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, also charged the youth leaders to remain focused and diligent in advancing Oyebamiji’s campaign.

Among the dignitaries present were Hon. Abiodun Awolola, Hon. Richard Tinubu, Hon. Christiana Sola Ogunfolaju, Hon. Moshood Adekunle Oluawo, Hon. Olusegun Fanibe, Hon. Lateef Jayeola, Hon. George Durosinmi, Hon. Debo Akanbi, Hon. Mulikat Abiola, Hon. Bosun Oyintiloye, Hon. Gafar Amere, Hon. Olasunkanmi Akinola Omotuntun, and several other prominent APC leaders.
