Coalition Set to Adopt ADC, Not ADA – Senator Ishaku Abbo Clarifies

Senator Ishaku Abbo, a prominent ally of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has addressed the ongoing speculation about the political platform to be adopted by the forming opposition coalition.
Speaking to the media, Abbo clarified that the group is in the process of aligning with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), dismissing earlier reports that pointed to the African Democratic Alliance (ADA).
“There’s no ambiguity here. Our coalition is working closely with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), not ADA. Discussions are well advanced, and we’ll be making an official announcement soon,” he stated.
He emphasized that the ADC is being considered due to its nationwide presence, inclusive structure, and reputation as a credible political organization—qualities the coalition sees as essential in providing Nigerians with a strong alternative in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.
Abbo also noted that consultations are actively ongoing with key political figures, civil society organizations, and youth movements across the country, all aimed at building a broad, unified opposition capable of challenging the current political establishment.
The development adds to growing speculation about Atiku Abubakar’s next political moves and signals increasing momentum within opposition ranks.
