Atiku, Obi, Aregbesola, El-Rufai, Mark Arrive in Abuja For ADC Coalition Launching
Prominent political figures from Nigeria’s opposition parties have assembled at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja for a media event organized by the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Among those present are former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, and ex-senator Dino Melaye.
Other attendees include former Sports and Youth Minister Solomon Dalung, media entrepreneur Dele Momodu, former Benue senator Gabriel Suswam, and sitting senator Ireti Kingibe of the Labour Party.
Also spotted at the event were former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi and Emeka Ihedioha, a one-time deputy speaker of the House of Representatives.
The gathering brings together figures affiliated with various parties including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and the Labour Party (LP).
Former Senate President David Mark led several coalition members into the venue as the event commenced.
Notably, Rauf Aregbesola, former Osun governor and current interim national chairman of the ADC, arrived alongside former Sokoto State governor Aminu Tambuwal.
Earlier in the day, the coalition faced a logistical hurdle after their initial venue — the Wells Carlton Hotel in Asokoro — withdrew its availability. According to a cancellation notice shared by Dele Momodu on Instagram, the hotel cited “internal compliance issues” as the reason.
The ADC quickly moved to secure the Yar’Adua Centre as an alternative venue, allowing the program to proceed as planned.
