Wike Threatens to Resign if Tinubu Publishes NDDC Audit Without Amaechi’s Indictment; See Reasons

Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has publicly challenged President Bola Tinubu to release the forensic audit report on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), claiming it exposes serious wrongdoing by former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, according to ThisDay Nigeria.
In an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today,’ Wike said he would step down from his ministerial role if the report, once made public, does not implicate Amaechi.
He further alleged that Amaechi’s wife received an exorbitant N4 billion monthly from the NDDC, supposedly under the pretext of training programs for women in the Niger Delta. Wike asserted that these claims are documented in the audit report, which he accused former Attorney General Abubakar Malami of deliberately withholding.
“I urge Mr. President to release the forensic audit without delay. If my allegations are not confirmed in that report, I am ready to resign immediately. My loyalty is to the people, not the office,” Wike stated.
The minister also claimed that Amaechi’s wife was not a legitimate businesswoman prior to her dealings with the NDDC and accused Amaechi of personally benefiting from contractors during his time as governor of Rivers State.
Wike went on to question Amaechi’s academic credentials, dismissing them as unimpressive. He also denied reports that a senator gifted Amaechi a Rolls-Royce, insisting instead that the luxury vehicle came from a contractor who handled many Rivers State projects under Amaechi’s administration.
He accused certain officials of suppressing the NDDC audit report to protect those involved in the alleged corruption and stressed that Nigerians deserve full transparency and accountability.
