Tragedy struck the Jargaba community in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State on Thursday night, as gunmen suspected to be bandits carried out a deadly assault, leaving six people dead and abducting two women.
According to a local eyewitness, the armed attackers stormed the area under the cover of darkness and headed directly for a communal gathering spot where men were socializing. Without issuing any warning, the assailants opened fire, killing six men instantly. Among the victims was an aide to the local Community Watch Corps (CWC) commandant. Stray bullets also hit two children, causing injuries.
Following the shootings, the attackers reportedly broke into a nearby residence and kidnapped two women. Their location remains unknown at this time.

Two individuals died at the scene, and four others who were injured have now been confirmed dead, bringing the total number of fatalities to six. As for the reported abductions, I’m still awaiting confirmation from the Divisional Police Officer.”
