Nigerian Man Accused of Fatally Stabbing Mother-in-Law in Canada

A 36-year-old Nigerian man, Lucky Ogbeijielele, has been taken into custody in connection with the fatal stabbing of his mother-in-law in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada.
The tragic event, which authorities are treating as a case of intimate partner violence, unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
According to the Greater Sudbury Police, a 32-year-old woman—believed to be Ogbeijielele’s spouse—suffered serious, though non-life-threatening, injuries during the violent encounter. Two young children were also present at the scene but were not physically harmed.
In a statement released by law enforcement, officers responded to a domestic violence report around 12:35 a.m. on July 2 at a residence on Lorne Street. Upon arrival, they found the injured woman outside the home and rushed her to the hospital.
When police entered the residence to assess the safety of others inside, they discovered a 63-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

incident.
