Tension Rocks ADC as EFCC Targets Top Figures

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is facing a wave of uncertainty as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) intensifies investigations into some of the party’s top-ranking officials.
Sources close to the matter revealed that several prominent figures within the ADC are under scrutiny for alleged financial misconduct, including suspected diversion of campaign funds and misappropriation of party resources. Although the EFCC has yet to release an official list of names, insiders suggest that the probe is targeting individuals who played key roles in the party’s operations during the last election cycle.
The development has reportedly triggered unrest within the party’s national secretariat. Meetings that were previously open and routine are now being held behind closed doors, with senior members avoiding media interactions. Party insiders describe the atmosphere as “charged” and “tense,” with some officials allegedly making discreet legal consultations in anticipation of possible arrests or interrogations.
EFCC operatives are said to have already visited multiple locations linked to the ADC’s leadership, collecting documents and digital records that could aid ongoing investigations. While no formal charges have been filed, legal analysts believe the agency’s actions indicate that prosecution may be on the horizon.
In an official statement, ADC’s National Publicity Secretary dismissed the allegations as “politically motivated” and urged the EFCC to conduct its inquiries with fairness and transparency. “Our party stands for integrity and accountability. We will cooperate fully with the EFCC, but we also demand that due process be respected,” the statement read.
Political observers warn that the unfolding drama could significantly weaken the ADC ahead of upcoming elections, especially if key members are indicted or removed from their positions. However, others argue that a thorough cleanup could restore public trust and strengthen the party’s internal structures.
As the EFCC continues its probe, all eyes are now on the ADC’s leadership to see how it navigates this storm — a storm that could either sink its ship or steer it toward a new course of politica
l credibility.
