U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham has issued a stark warning about America’s foreign policy stance on Israel, declaring that any withdrawal of support for the Jewish state could have spiritual consequences for the nation.

Speaking at a Republican Party rally in South Carolina on Wednesday night, the longtime Republican lawmaker passionately defended Israel, calling it America’s most dependable ally in the Middle East. Graham insisted that continued U.S. backing is not only strategically sound but also morally necessary.

“Israel is literally fighting for survival,” he said, describing the nation as being surrounded by hostile forces intent on its destruction. “If their enemies had the power, they would wipe them out without hesitation.”

Addressing accusations of genocide against Israel, Graham rejected them outright. “If Israel wanted to commit genocide, they absolutely could—they have the power. But they don’t. Hamas, on the other hand, would do it in seconds. They simply lack the means,” he said.

He further underscored the religious and ethical dimension of U.S. support, declaring, “If America abandons Israel, then God will abandon America. And we’re not going to let that happen.”

Graham credited former President Donald Trump with being a steadfast ally of Israel during some of its most turbulent moments, referencing the October 7 Hamas-led assault as a defining event. He called it “the worst attack on Jewish lives since the Holocaust” and an effort to erase Israel altogether.

Now nearly two years into the ongoing conflict, Graham expressed frustration over narratives that portray Israel as the aggressor. “It’s absurd. Israel isn’t the villain. They’re fighting extremists who would murder everyone here if given the chance,” he told the crowd.

He ended his remarks by praising Trump’s foreign policy, drawing comparisons to Ronald Reagan’s leadership. Graham called Trump someone who stood “firmly for what’s right and clearly against what’s wrong.”
