“I Don’t Hate Men – I’m Just a Hopeless Romantic,” Says Toke Makinwa

Renowned Nigerian media personality and actress Toke Makinwa has opened up about her personal journey to motherhood, dispelling long-held misconceptions about her views on love and relationships.
Recently, Toke surprised fans with the news that she is expecting her first child. Speaking in a heartfelt interview, she revealed that she had earnestly prayed to become a mother before turning 40—a dream that materialized sooner than anticipated. According to Eyes Of Lagos, she became pregnant in December, just one month after celebrating her 40th birthday in November, a timing she described as divinely orchestrated.
“There’s this widespread belief that I hate men or always bash them. That’s not true. I’ve always been a hopeless romantic,” she shared. “What people didn’t know was that I was going through depression. Even the thanksgiving service I held, no one really knew the reason behind it until now. From the start, I told God I wanted to become a mother at 40. I turned 40 in November, and by December, He answered. God isn’t late—He just works in ways we don’t always expect.”
Toke also clarified that her bold personality and candid opinions have often been misinterpreted, especially regarding her stance on men. She reaffirmed that love holds a special place in her life and that her strong expressions are never rooted in hate.
Her emotional revelation has been met with an outpouring of support online, with fans, fellow celebrities, and well-wishers sending their love and congratulations across social media platforms.
