Former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose has openly criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), calling it a “swamp” and predicting that key leaders will eventually defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

During a media briefing, Fayose claimed that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed are likely to leave the PDP as ongoing internal crises continue to weaken the party. “The PDP is no longer what it used to be. Governor Makinde and Governor Bala will eventually move to the ADC,” he said.

Fayose dismissed threats of expulsion against himself and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, arguing that the PDP lacks the authority to take such action. He added that many of the party members accusing them of anti-party activities have since joined the APC.

He further lamented the party’s current state, describing it as divided and ineffective: “The PDP today is like a torn cloth—useless to both sides.” Political analysts note that Fayose’s comments highlight the growing frustration among senior party figures and signal the deepening cracks that could affect the PDP’s future relevance nationally.
