PDP Blasts APC’s Morka Over Claims, Labels Comments ‘Delusional’

The Peoples Democratic Party has fired back at Felix Morka over his recent assertion that the opposition party has effectively ceased to function as a political entity. The PDP described the statement as “unfortunate” and reflective of “delusional propaganda” by the ruling party.
In a statement released on Monday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, the opposition insisted that Nigerians continue to reject the All Progressives Congress amid widespread economic hardships, despite defections from PDP members allegedly orchestrated by the APC.
Morka had earlier claimed on The Morning Show that internal crises within the PDP had rendered it ineffective and unable to provide a credible platform for its members. He further suggested that defections to the APC signaled public endorsement rather than a drift toward a one-party state.
Responding, Ememobong dismissed the claim, saying, “We have read a statement credited to the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, alleging that PDP is no longer a political party due to defections — a strategy clearly engineered by the APC itself. This statement is most unfortunate and a clear demonstration of delusional thinking.”
The PDP highlighted that attempts by the APC to manipulate party registers, membership drives, and events, including disruptions at the City Boys gathering in Owerri, have failed to sway public sentiment in favor of the ruling party.
Ememobong went further, drawing parallels between Morka’s remarks and historical propaganda tactics, warning that such “delusional propaganda does not just destroy nations, it ultimately consumes its proponents, as seen under Nazi Germany.” He said, “Defending the political excesses of the APC-led Federal Government under Bola Ahmed Tinubu will etch Morka’s name into history as one who actively supported a maladministration.”
The statement concluded with a reassurance that the PDP remains resolute in its opposition and commitment to democratic principles, emphasizing that the party’s survival and relevance are anchored in public support and national accountability.
According to The Punch, the exchange underscores the intensifying rhetoric between Nigeria’s ruling party and opposition as the political climate heats up ahead of key elections.
