Osun APC Accuses Adeleke Government of Importing Thugs Into Osogbo, Iwo, Okuku

• Alleges Davido Involved in Plot to Destabilize Osun

The Osun State Governorship Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has received strong intelligence reports indicating that the Osun State Government has mobilized thugs and criminal elements from outside the state into Osogbo, Ilesa, Ile Ife, Iwo and Okuku with the sole aim of causing tension, strife and coordinated attacks on members of our party as well as supporters and sympathizers of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), candidate of our great party in the forthcoming governorship election.

It was further learnt from reliable authorities that the popular musician and nephew of Governor Ademola Adeleke, Mr David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, is part of the clandestine and dangerous plot to destabilize Osun State in a desperate attempt to force his ineffective and underperforming uncle on the people of the state for a second term.

We wish to clearly state that Davido should concentrate on his music career rather than making himself an agent of destruction and electoral manipulation. While he is constitutionally entitled to support and campaign for the re-election of his uncle, such political activities must strictly be carried out within the ambit of the law and democratic decency.

The Adeleke administration must not spill the blood of innocent citizens in its desperate bid to sustain itself in power. Osun State must not be turned into a theatre of violence because of political desperation and selfish ambition.

The Osun APC will do everything lawful and legitimate to thwart the evil plans being orchestrated by the Adeleke political dynasty to intimidate voters and reduce what should ordinarily be a peaceful democratic exercise into a violent do-or-die affair.

The people of Osun State have not forgotten the ugly experiences of 2022 and 2023 during which over 30 members of the APC were gruesomely murdered in politically-motivated attacks aimed at paving the way for elections involving Senator Ademola Adeleke and candidates of his party. Such dark days must never be allowed to repeat themselves in our dear state.

Consequently, the APC Governorship Campaign Council hereby calls on the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and all relevant security agencies to immediately beam their searchlight on Davido and the Osun State Government in order to prevent a breakdown of law and order.

We equally call on the National Security Adviser to urgently call Governor Ademola Adeleke to order before the situation degenerates beyond control.

Osun people deserve peace, credible elections and a secure environment to freely exercise their democratic rights without intimidation, coercion or fear.

Signed:
Engr Oluremi Omowaiye
Head, Media and Publicity Committee
