Body of 16-year-old girl gang-r@ped in Jigawa found inside well

FCGs reports that the body of a 16-year-old girl, Habiba Samaila, was found dumped inside a well in Ringim community, Begúwa Local Government Area of Jigawa State a few days after she was declared missing.

FCGs learnt according to her family that she was gang raped by her boyfriend and his friends before her body was thrown into a old well on the outskirt of the village.

It was gathered that the deceased was declared missing on Saturday, August 12, 2023.

According to reports, her family members made a fruitless search for her since then and on Wednesday, August 16, some residents on their way to the farmed perceived foul odour emanating from the well.

The body was evacuated by security operatives and buried according to Islamic rites.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP Lawan Adam, who confirmed the incident on Saturday, August 19, said investigation is ongoing.

The PPRO said police operatives have arrested the prime suspect who was seen with the deceased at a wedding before she was declared missing.
