ADC in Turmoil as Court Summons Mark, Others on Leadership Feud

The political atmosphere within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been thrown into fresh tension as a court has summoned prominent party figures, including Mark and several others, over a lingering leadership tussle threatening the stability of the party.
The summons follows months of internal wrangling between rival factions, each laying claim to the party’s national leadership. The crisis, which has lingered despite repeated attempts at reconciliation, escalated into a full-blown legal battle after aggrieved members petitioned the court to determine the rightful leadership structure of the ADC.
Party insiders disclosed that the dispute centers on allegations of unconstitutional practices, parallel congresses, and imposition of leaders by certain power blocs within the party. These divisions, they noted, have weakened the ADC’s ability to position itself effectively ahead of the 2026 general elections.
A political analyst who spoke on the matter described the court summons as a critical turning point in the party’s history. “The ADC has always projected itself as an alternative voice in Nigeria’s political landscape. However, these leadership struggles risk eroding public confidence and alienating grassroots supporters who desire stability and unity,” he said.
The court is expected to hear arguments from both factions in the coming weeks, with political observers predicting that the ruling could either restore order or deepen the crisis within the ADC.
Meanwhile, concerned members of the party have called on all stakeholders to embrace dialogue and prioritize the survival of the ADC over personal ambitions. “We cannot afford to let internal conflict destroy the party’s vision. The court process should not become an avenue for further division but a platform for clarity and peace,” one party member appealed.
As the case progresses, all eyes remain on the judiciary to resolve the leadership feud and provide a clear direction for the ADC at a time when Nigeria’s political terrain is shif
ting rapidly.
