APC Congress: Kana-Zuru Returned as Kebbi State Chairman

The Kebbi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru as its State Chairman for a second term in office.
Kana-Zuru was returned unchallenged at the party’s State Congress, which took place at the FIFA Stadium in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital. The event witnessed the participation of delegates representing all 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
Party stakeholders described the congress as peaceful, well-coordinated, and one of the most orderly gatherings in the history of the APC in Kebbi State. The selection of officials was largely achieved through consensus.
Alongside Kana-Zuru, other members of the State Executive Committee were also elected. Alhaji Ado Mudi Augie emerged as Vice Chairman, while Alhaji Saidu Muhammad Kimba was elected as Secretary. Alhaji Sahabi Lolo secured the position of Assistant Secretary, and Alhaji Abubakar Bunza was chosen as Treasurer.
In addition, Hajiya A’isha Gunabi was elected as State Women Leader, with Hajiya Jamila Baba serving as Assistant Women Leader. Alhaji Isah Assalafi was elected as Public Relations Officer (PRO), while Alhaji Lukman Yauri emerged as Assistant PRO, among other positions filled during the exercise.
Speaking at the congress, Alhaji Attahiru Maccido, who chaired the Local Organising Committee and also serves as Chief of Staff at the Government House, commended the smooth conduct of the event. He noted that the consensus approach adopted reflected unity and cooperation among party members.
Governor Nasir Idris, in his address, praised former governors who served the state between 1999 and 2023 for promoting cohesion within the party and across Kebbi State. He stated that his administration intends to sustain and build upon that legacy to further advance development in the state.
In his acceptance speech, Kana-Zuru thanked the governor and party leaders for entrusting him with another term. He pledged to promote transparency, inclusiveness, and to strengthen the party’s structure throughout the state.
