APC Groups Call for Tinubu’s Intervention in Bello-EFCC Dispute

A coalition of support groups within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is appealing to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to step in regarding the conflict between former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged financial misconduct.
The groups assert that their appeal is based on Bello’s contributions to the advancement of the APC.
In a joint statement, the coalition claimed that Bello is facing undue persecution by the EFCC, which they believe is influenced by certain clandestine groups opposing the party and Tinubu’s re-election campaign. The statement was released by Mr. Victor Odunlana, Coordinator of the APC Youths Connect (APCYC), and Malam Musa Kassim Bello, Chairman of the APC Unity Mandate (APCUM).
Bello expressed that the ongoing allegations should not justify the continuous attention-seeking actions by the EFCC. The coalition emphasized the need for fairness in the agency’s approach to combating corruption, arguing against the selective enforcement currently evident in their operations.
As concerned citizens and civil society representatives, they voiced their disappointment in how the EFCC has undermined the integrity of the fight against corruption.
