Atiku’s Aide Criticize Bwala’s Demotion, Claims “Message Sent” by Tinubu’s Media Reshuffle

Demola Olarewaju, the Special Assistant on Digital Media and Strategy to Atiku Abubakar, has reacted to the recent changes in President Bola Tinubu’s media team, suggesting that Daniel Bwala has been demoted.
Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, announced a reshuffling of roles, with Sunday Dare, who was previously Special Adviser on Public Communication and National Orientation, now appointed as Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications. Meanwhile, Bwala, who had only recently been named Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, was reassigned to a new role as Special Adviser on Policy Communications.
Olarewaju took to social media to comment on the move, mocking Bwala’s demotion. He wrote, “Egbon Onanuga didn’t even wait till morning – he dropped the press release re-designating Bwala’s position at 11:28 PM, right as the news was breaking.”
He further suggested that the reorganization came after internal discussions that led to Bwala’s demotion, implying a message was being sent: “You may be in office, but we are the ones with the power.”
Olarewaju’s post continued: “You may know Tinubu, but we’ve known him longer. You might have been allowed in, but you’re not truly one of us, and we’ll remind you of your place whenever necessary.”
In his signature style, Olarewaju called out the situation, claiming it was a sign of how “shameless” some political moves can be.
