Convert or Be Killed: ISWAP Sets Christian Village Ablaze in Adamawa

The Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) has intensified its campaign of violence against Christian communities in northeastern Nigeria, with the reported destruction of a Christian village in Adamawa State.

Details of the attack emerged after a security analyst, Brant Philip, shared information linked to a video released by the terrorist group. According to Philip, ISWAP circulated images showing the village engulfed in flames, accompanied by a message declaring Christians in Nigeria as legitimate targets.
In the statement, the group reportedly warned that Christians could “spare their lives” only by converting to Islam or by paying *jizyah*, a tax imposed by the group on non-Muslims under its control.
The attack is widely seen as a retaliatory response to recent airstrikes allegedly carried out by the United States military against a terrorist hideout in Sokoto State.
The incident has further heightened concerns over the growing insecurity in Nigeria’s northeast and the continued targeting of religious communities by extremist groups.
