In a deliberate demonstration of respect for experience, tradition, and the enduring value of elder statesmanship, the Osun State Campaign Council today paid a courtesy visit to foremost elder statesman, Alhaji Shuaibu Oyedokun, at his Inisa residence.
This engagement follows an earlier visit today to another revered leader of the progressive family, Chief Bisi Akande, amplifying the Council’s commitment to wide-ranging consultations with party elders.
The visit forms part of the Council’s ongoing strategic engagements aimed at securing prayers, counsel, and direction as preparations intensify toward the successful election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Alhaji Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, in the forthcoming gubernatorial election scheduled for August 15, 2026.
Speaking during the visit, the Director-General of the Campaign Council, Hon. Oluwole Oke, emphasized the critical importance of drawing from the wisdom and experience of elder statesmen at pivotal moments of political responsibility. He noted that enduring political success is often rooted in consultation, humility, and respect for institutional memory.
“At a defining moment such as this, it is both wise and necessary to seek guidance from those whose lives embody experience, discipline, and foresight. Baba Oyedokun represents a rich legacy of progressive leadership and unwavering commitment to our shared ideals. His counsel remains invaluable to the success of this mission,” Hon. Oluwole Oke stated.
He further explained that the visit was to formally seek Baba Oyedokun’s blessings and strategic direction on the critical assignment entrusted to the Council by the leadership of the party, stressing that such moral and spiritual support is indispensable as efforts intensify to reclaim Osun State for the progressives.
The high-powered delegation included key leaders of the Campaign Council, notably Hon. Oluwole Oke (Director-General); Prince Bayo Adeleke (Banik), Director-General, Osun West; Prince Thomas Ogungbamigbe, Director-General, Osun East; Rt. Hon. Adejare Bello (Ede Federal Constituency); Prince Femi Kujembola (Ijesa South); Hon. Asifat Akinola (Irewole Federal Constituency); and Hon. Adebisi Obawale (Ila Federal Constituency).
Also present were principal secretaries within the campaign structure, including Prince Ibitoye Kilomodemo (IBO Federal Constituency); Hon. Kamil Oyedele (Osogbo); Hon. Tunde Faleye (Ijesa South); and Hon. Oluwasegun Oluwadare (Irewole).
Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, immediate past Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, also joined the Council during the visit to show the inclusive nature of the Council.
Rt. Hon. Adejare Bello ,thanked Baba for his guidance and prayers at this critical juncture. He prayed for Baba and expressed that he covets the grace upon Baba as Elder of note for all the members.
The visit further highlights the Campaign Council’s commitment to inclusive consultation, unity of purpose, and strategic alignment, as it works toward electoral success through collective wisdom and deep respect for the party’s revered leaders.
In his response, Baba Oyedokun commended the delegation for the visit, offered valuable counsel drawn from his wealth of experience, and graciously bestowed his blessings on the Council. He assured the delegation of his support and guidance at all times.
This engagement forms part of a broader, ongoing effort by the Campaign Council to continually seek the guidance of respected elders as it prepares for the important task ahead.
