Empowering Futures: Ijesa Youth Forum Launches 3-Day Program for 200 Young Women

The Ijesa Youth Forum (IYF), the leading organization for youth initiatives in Ijesaland, recently conducted a transformative 3-day empowerment program for 200 young women. Held from September 23 to 25, 2024, at Obokungbusi Hall in Adimula’s Palace, Ilesa, Osun State, the event aimed to enhance the skills and capabilities of aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners in the region.

Under the guidance of the IYF Secretariat, the program focused on equipping participants with vital tools necessary for success in today’s competitive business landscape. Collaborating with the Enterprise Development Center at Pan-Atlantic University, the IYF provided expert-led training and mentorship. The event was coordinated by the Director of Women Affairs and Welfare Officers, ensuring attendees received practical training from experienced facilitators.

Young women from various local governments—including Atakumosa East, Atakumosa West, Ilesa East, Ilesa West, Oriade, and Obokun—participated enthusiastically.

The logistics and accommodations for the participants were generously sponsored by the Ijesa caucus of the Osun State House of Assembly, represented by Hon. Adeyemi Adeyemi of the Obokun State Constituency. This support significantly contributed to the attendees’ comfort, allowing them to concentrate on the training.

During the closing ceremony, IYF National President Micheal Olufemi, represented by General Secretary Mr. John Rotimi Fakanlu, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in empowering women and stimulating the local economy. He reaffirmed the forum’s dedication to creating opportunities for youth development, particularly for young women in the area.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the valuable knowledge acquired, with many eager to implement their new skills. The IYF anticipates that this program will foster a wave of economic empowerment and growth throughout Ijesaland.
